Whether you are thin, overweight, obese or you feel “just fine” – spotting the areas where your body stores fat is an important health issue.
Here are a few easy tips on how to spot those areas and also, what it means.
First of all, let’s divide the body in the 3 main areas of storing fat:
1. The abdomen area
Having a flat stomach is all most of us can only dream about. Storing fat in the area of the abdomen is the most usual place for storing fat. The normal waist size for females is 90cm, while for men – 102 cm.
Anything above this numbers in both cases is considered either overweight or obese – depending on the height of the person.
What does this tell you? Storing fat in the lowerd abdomen is a sign of a possible heart attack, or even a type A diabetes coming somewhere down the road.
2. The area around the arms and breasts
The fat stored in these places is the absolutely hardest to lose – it can only be lost with full body weight loss – arm toning exercises aren’t of much help without losing the weight.
To calculate if you are storing fat in this area, there is the Body Mass Index (BMI) and there are scientifically based calculators for calculating this. It is a messure that you can even check up online!
And for both, men and female, the normal BMI number is 30. Anything above that is obese and you should definitely consider a serious diet.
Also, if your BMI is above 30 you should also check your glycemic index. People who store fat around these area probably suffer from diabetes as well. Do more cardio, cut the carbs and consider about the push ups and weight lifting exercises to get rid of the fat around this area.
3. The thighs and hips area
This is the most obvious place to spot if you are storing fat in your hips and thighs. This fat is considered subcutaneous fat. It is safer than the previous areas of storing fat, since the fat stored here is due to the fatty acids from the food we eat.
That means that these acids don’t get inside our bloodstream, which is actually healthier, but the body doesn’t have the full possibility to get rid of them completely – so it stores them in the lower body parts. They aren’t close to the internal organs – but they can harm your health eventually.
